Item Details
Antique Victorian Eastlake-style parlor or nursing chair, typically dating from the late 19th century (circa 1880–1890). The linear structure, incised geometric carvings on the top crest rail, and distinct fluted turned legs are hallmarks of the Eastlake movement, which was immensely popular during the late Victorian era.
Known both as a parlor chair or a low nursing / fireside chair, it is specifically designed with a slightly lower seat height and no armrests to allow movement (traditionally accommodating bulky Victorian dresses or tasks like nursing and needlework). It features a medium-to-dark tone walnut or mahogany frame, supported by prominent turned front legs with functional brass casters for easy movement across parlor rugs.
The backrest is button-tufted and paired with a heavily padded seat cushion, both finished in a classic dense floral tapestry fabric.
